Project Settings
Project Settings define first and foremost the properties of the final video (a rescaling or output format change during the render process notwithstanding). That includes the dimensions (e.g. 1920x1080), aspect ratio (e.g. 16:9 or 9:16 or 4:3), frame rate (e.g. 30fps), color space, and interlaced or progressive rendering.

Depending on the project profile you chose, the edit layout automatically switches to horizontal or vertical with the safe areas adapting at the same time.
Besides that, you can define where Kdenlive stores all project assets, how many video and audio tracks there are initially (you can add or delete tracks later as needed), whether or not Kdenlive should create proxy files automatically and under what circumstances, and you can enter metadata like author’s name and copyright information which will be embedded in the multimedia container during export/render.
Here you also define the categories and colors for the timeline marker and markers you can use in the timeline to structure your project.
Once the project is underway, you can find here some statistics about your project, like number and size of the clips, used versus unused, and about the data cache. Kdenlive gives you full control over the use and utilization of your assets.
The project settings dialog is opened every time a new project is created (Menu ‣ File ‣ New), or via Menu ‣ File ‣ Project Settings.
The Project Settings dialog window has six tabs:
*[RGB]: Red, Green, Blue *[VFX]: Visual Effects *[feathering]: Smoothing or blurring the edges of a feature *[LFO]: Low-Frequency Oscillation *[dB]: decibel *[LUFS]: Loudness Units Full Scale *[AI]: Artificial Intelligence *[LLM]: Large Language Model *[HSV]: Hue, Saturation, Value *[SOP/Sat]: S(lope), O(ffset), P(ower) / SATuration *[CDL]: Color Decision List *[HSL]: Hue, Saturation, Lightness - Using HSL color space is useful for subtle color changes *[px]: pixel *[hh:mm:ss:ff]: hours:minutes:seconds:frames *[Hz]: Hertz *[CIE]: Commission internationale de l'éclairage, French for International Commission on Illumination *[DCI]: Digital Cinema Initiative *[nadir]: direction pointing directly below a particular location *[OS]: Operating System *[decibel]: Unit of measurement (dB) for sound levels *[clipping]: A form of distortion that limits a signal once it exceeds a threshold *[Spectrogram]: Visual representation of the spectrum of frequencies of a signal as it varies with time *[prevent clipping]: Dynamic range compression (DRC)is an audio signal processing operation that reduces the volume of loud sounds or amplifies quiet sounds, thus reducing or compressing an audio signal's dynamic range. *[SNR]: Signal-to-Noise Ratio *[dbFS]: Decibels relative to full scale *[QHD]: Quad-HD *[UHD]: Ultra High Definition *[XML]: Extensible Markup Language *[fps]: frames per second
